We are delighted to welcome back local artist Zoë Duncan for this relaxing yet informative watercolour class, as she returns to share her expertise in this sunflower workshop.
Over the course of 2 and a half hours, Zoë will teach you how to capture the essence of this iconic summer flower. You will learn all the basics of watercolour painting, as well as how to lift off painted surfaces, with brushes, paper and sponges allowing soft edges to appear. You will also learn how to create effects in the background using negative painting - and how a looser approach can breathe life into your work. There will be demonstrations as well as plenty of opportunity for 1-2-1 learning and questions.
This class is suitable for absolute beginners, as well as more experienced painters and everyone will leave with their own sunflower watercolour picture. All materials will be provided.
We will also have a selection of refreshments including coffee from Tylers Green based Solarbean Coffee, tea & herbal teas from Chesham-based Two Spoons and both dairy and non dairy milks. Cake will be home made by local Amersham-based business The Angelic Cake Company. We are big believers in supporting other local businesses as much as we can.
These classes are always a really perfect balance of creativity, relaxation and new learning so we hope you will find the class a really great place to either start your painting journey or develop your create practise further.
Zoë is currently studying for a Masters in Fine Art at Central St. Martins in London. She previously trained at the City and Guilds London Art School, studying for a Post Grad Diploma in Sculpture and Drawing. She is a hugely experienced teacher, having taught art to adults and children for over 16 years, including as a tutor at Waterperry Gardens, at her own studio and at workshops within schools, and local art groups in both Bucks, and Oxfordshire.
As an artist, Zoë is drawn to the natural world and especially those whose movement is affected by the different elements of air and water. Zoë's work has been sold through galleries in Oxfordshire, London and Buckinghamshire and her commission work is in collections around the world, including in the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Australia and the USA so we are in very capable hands.
This class will be held at our Pavilion in Penn Street, Amersham.
