Join us for a beautiful, unique art class in which you will have the opportunity to wander through the equisite private Walled Garden at The Penn Estate picking a handful of seasonal blooms which you will then go on to capture in watercolours, expertly guided by local artist Zoe Duncan.
Your morning begins at our Pavilion in Penn Street, from where we will take a leisurely short walk through the adjacent field and ancient woodland into The Penn Estate. We are extremely lucky to have been granted private access to the estate's absolutely gorgeous walled garden which is a wonderful oasis for amateur gardeners. Ross, the estate's head gardener, will give us a brief tour and answer any questions you have before you will be free to pick a handful of blooms from the garden.
Upon our return to the Pavilion we will pop our flowers into water whilst we have a quick cuppa and slice of home made cake before Zoe teaches us how to turn our blooms into delicate watercolour studies.
Amazingly this workshop is suitable for everyone, including absolute beginners, who Zoe says will have no problem at all in picking up the techniques they need through step by step guidance and the opportunity for plenty of 1:1 tuition.
All materials will be provided, plus you can then take your little bunch of flowers home with you! This class really does promise to be a blooming floral delight so do book early to avoid disappointment.
As we will be outside for a large part of this class please do bring suitable clothing, just in case the British Summer weather takes a turn for the worse!
Zoë is currently studying for a Masters in Fine Art at Central St. Martins in London. She previously trained at the City and Guilds London Art School, studying for a Post Grad Diploma in Sculpture and Drawing. She is a hugely experienced teacher, having taught art to adults and children for over 16 years, including as a tutor at Waterperry Gardens, at her own studio and at workshops within schools, and local art groups in both Bucks, and Oxfordshire.
As an artist, Zoë is drawn to the natural world and especially those whose movement is affected by the different elements of air and water. Zoë's work has been sold through galleries in Oxfordshire, London and Buckinghamshire and her commission work is in collections around the world, including in the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Australia and the USA so we are in very capable hands.
