Our Studio Sessions have been something that's been in the wings for nearly as long as we've been in business! Their first iteration was our infamous crafternoons at The Barn (you don’t remember those? well that's because only Caroline and Jules turned up!). Then we had our Cake & Make workshops which got scuppered by covid, then no water and finally no electricity. You get the picture... it feels like we never really had the chance to get them off the ground but all that has changed.
WHAT ARE THE STUDIO SESSIONS?
They're exactly what they say on the tin! Caroline & Jules are opening up The Studio and you're welcome to come and work on your own pieces whatever they may be!
Our dream for these sessions is that we hold the space for a regular group of amateur crafters, potters and creatives who really love making but rarely have the time to do it on their own homes. Comments like "I just never seem to make the time", "I have never finished it because it's bigger than our dining room table!" and "I think I enjoy crafting alongside other people best as it can feel a bit lonely on my own" are things we hear regularly...in fact for the whole of 2024 so far we both agreed to meet up for one morning a week and make things together but for one reason or another it just hasn’t ever happened. So, this is it. Our commitment to ourselves, to each other and to anyone who wants to come along... let’s sip delicious teas, eat gorgeous homemade cakes, enjoy being with likeminded crafty folk and immerse ourselves in creativity making lots of lovely things!!!!
Studio Sessions will be the perfect place to give yourself permission to commit to your own creative practise... to start that project that's been sitting on your Pinterest board for the best part of the last 2 years... to finally get round to making your own Christmas cards... to complete the countless half made projects that are hiding in drawers and on the top of wardrobes in your home.
All you need to do is book your session and turn up for 2 and half hours of craft capers!
and if you are a potter....here's some info about the POTTERY STUDIO SESSIONS
These sessions will only work for people who have had some experience working with clay before, either having graduated from one of our "Play with Clay" or wheel-throwing courses or done a course somewhere else. They are not suitable for complete beginners.
In these sessions you're very welcome to come along and make whatever you want, using our equipment and clay with the added bonus that on of us is always on hand to offer advice or guidance. You are also very welcome, during these sessions, to use a pottery wheel.
One small batt of pieces per session can be fired and glazed. Any additional pieces can be finished/fired by us for an additional fee.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT OUR POTTERY OPEN STUDIO?
We’ve put together a brief guide as below, so you know what to expect ceramics-wise at this class.
- Each guest is allocated a table to work on and you are welcome to use all of our clay tools/equipment.
- We are a small owner-run business so we don’t have the deep pockets of the larger organisations who teach clay, but we try to be as generous as we can. We hope you understand that we do have to have limitations to stay afloat.
- We have allocated a maximum amount of clay per person per class of 2kgs
- For both bisque and glaze firings we can fire a whole small batt of your work. Obviously, you can stack the bisque but not the glazed!
- If you wish for us to fire more then do ask us for our kiln charges sheet which details cost per size of item.
- All of our studio glazes are brushing glazes, with small amounts of clear pouring glazes for the inside of vases or cups. A lot of our regular customers prefer to bring their own so that they can be more in control of the look of their pieces.
- We will have 5-6 wheels in the room available to use per class.
- Please allow 2 weeks minimum for your pieces to be fired and returned to you.
- Deadline for firings to be back in time for the Christmas holidays is Friday 22nd November 2024.
REFUND POLICY
We are really sorry but if you have booked for a whole or half term and are unable to make one of your dates, our normal refund policy does need to be upheld. If you are unsure of our refund policy then please do click here.
We hope all of the above makes sense and very much look forward to welcoming you to your class!
With our warmest wishes, Jules & Caroline
