Friday, 21st March 2025 from 7-9pm at The Studio in Homer Green
£50 per person
All materials included. Suitable for beginners.
In this 2-hour informal session, you will create your own selection of collage papers to then use in your mixed media abstract work. The papers will be your inspiration - cutting, tearing and layering to build texture and depth to your piece.
We are really delighted that local abstract artist Amy Huitson has agreed to return to Where Inspiration Blooms to lead another group session where you can explore your creativity through playful experimentation with different materials and techniques.
For many people the idea of simply playing with paint, patterns and mark making feels very unconfortable but is an essential part of the creativity process so we hope that under Amy's gentle guidance it will become something that you feel more confident using in your own creative journey... or you can simply come along and have lots of FUN!
Using methods that Amy uses in her own practise this relaxed and informal session will enable you to give yourself permission to let go and to play with the materials. Amy regularly uses mixed media collage in her own practise with stunning effect in our opinion!
Amy will take you through all the materials and equipment you will be using and encourage you work with colour combinations, shapes and marks you are drawn to intuitively.
All materials will be provided. This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those who have painted before and you are very welcome to bring any materials or pieces of paper/mark making you have previosuly done to work them into your final piece - or you don't even need to be working towards a final piece... Amy will provide everyone with a mount so that if you do want a 'completed' piece of work then you will have one!
Amy is an abstract artist based in the Chilterns. Amy graduated with a First Class BA degree in Craft from the University of Brighton followed by an MA is Fine Art Sculpture from Wimbledon School of Art. Amy now focuses her work on creating large abstract paintings taking inspiration from forms and textures found in the natural landscape.
This class will only be able to go ahead if we have a minimum number of 5 guests. All of our teachers are highly skilled in their fields, but being an artist isn't always a well paid profession so we hope you understand why it's important that we ensure that our teachers can afford to run each of their classes. Should the class not be able to go ahead we will contact you no less than a week before the class is due to take place and full refunds will be issued.
