Thursday 5th December or Thursday 12th December 2024
Class lasts for 2 hours and can start at a time of your choice between 3pm and 7pm
£450 for up to 8 people
Every year we get asked if we can run private wheel throwing sessions for work colleagues, families or just groups of friends who want to have a go, but without the gaze of folk they don't know (we totally get it... Jules still hasn't tried to throw and pot and we've been running pottery classes for nearly 7 years now!!) So for Christmas 2024 we are taking very tentative steps in to running private workshops and parties... hence why there are only 2 dates!
Welcome to our first ever Christmas Wheel Throwing Parties!
In this really fun 2 hour session, under the expert guidance of our wheel throwing teacher Andrea you will take a whistle stop tour through the basic skills needed to throw on the wheel - clay preparation, centring the clay and pulling up a cylindrical shape ... think of this bit like The Great Pottery Throwdown but after several expressos!
Everyone will be working at their own wheel to really enjoy the maximum throwing time possible..but also so you can see who has made the most mess afterwards ;) Once everyone has thrown a piece they're happy with, they will then be able to use our wide selection of underglazes to personalise and decorate their piece.
We will then go on to put their treasured item through the kiln a couple of times, clear glazing it for them to make it waterproof and fully useable!
Then approximately 4 weeks after the class all of your pieces will be ready for collection and your group can compare notes on who made the best piece!
To add to the festive atmospehere we will be sure to have the festive tunes playing, we will have some Christmassy nibbles and will also throw in a couple of bottles of festive fizz (or mulled wine if you prefer) to get your Christmas evening off with a bang!
This session will be held in our Studio in Holmer Green. We have disabled access and plenty of free parking.
Before you book this class please note the following:
- someone will need to come and collect your pieces of work at a later date (approx 4 weeks after the class) as sadly we are not able to post pieces of pottery out
- you will be notified on email approximately 4 weeks after your class to let you know that your work is ready for collection
